SCSO Divisions

Administration

Administration would be your Elected Sheriff Steven R. Hogan. As well as his management team, and Secretaries and department heads, such as Jail administrators and Dispatch Directors

Criminal Investigative Division

Detectives are the second and often final layer of a criminal investigation. Because criminal investigations are often time consuming and require flexibility that Patrol Deputies do not have time and resources for, the Detectives step in and assist the Deputy's and victims to find resolution and complete the picture of the incident.

Emergency Communications

Dispatchers are responsible for answering all of our incoming calls and 911 calls. Directing calls to other extensions and relaying messages as needed. Dispatchers communicate directly with distressed callers and ensure Deputies respond to crisis in progress.

Patrol

When you picture law enforcement, this is the bread and butter of the agency. They enforce traffic law by patrolling the roadways. They respond to calls for service. They do the day to day leg work that keeps a community safe and secure.

Detention Facility

The SCSO Detention Officers are some of the best, well trained Jailers you will find around. They are responsible for the overall security, fundamental operations, success and safety of the Inmate population.

K-9 Teams

SCSO employs multiple K-9 teams. Each team is one handler, and one working dog. Handlers do not share dogs. They are assigned to each other. K-9s are protected as a commissioned Deputy.

Reserves

Reserves are academy graduate commissioned Deputies with full powers of arrest. However, they have chosen law enforcement as a secondary career and will regularly put on a badge and work a shift to bolster the assets of the Sheriff and reduce shortages in coverage. They are not different than any other Deputy.

Records Department

Often due to sunshine requests or other ongoing criminal cases, we must access our records and use them for follow on cases and or processes. We employ a records clerk to fill these roles.

Food Services

Inmates must eat three meals a day. This requires a dedicated kitchen staff who prepares and serves food three times a day, daily. Currently Jailers are responsible for this task. But we hope to involve trustees in the future.

Posse

Posse members are very similar to reserves. They are not commissioned. They are not law enforcement officers. But they are employed by the Sheriff's Office to assist with not criminal functions. Such as special events, security, help in the office, and filling gaps as needed.

SWAT

The SWAT team consist of multiple deputies who have advanced tactical training and experience, to ensure we can provide not just excellent investigative services, but a higher level of protection to our citizens. When we can protect ourselves, we are capable of protecting the people who make Shannon County special from harm.

Trustees

SCSO employs a few very select Inmates who have proven their trustworthiness and they are utilized to assist the SCSO at low costs to complete tasks that are needed.
